The ICRF – Joseph Safra Memorial Grant for Glioblastoma Research

PROS1, a protein that helps regulate blood clotting, has been linked to specific diseases and conditions. The Burstyn-Cohen research team found a correlation between aggressive brain tumors (glioblastomas, or GBM) and PROS1 overproduction, and discovered that blocking PROS1 production makes GBM more sensitive to radiation and chemotherapy. The team’s current experimental study aims to further understand how PROS1 supports brain tumors, which may sensitize GBM and make treatment more beneficial.
