The ICRF – Redhill Foundation Project Grant

Eosinophils, white blood cells that support the immune system, can fight parasitic infections by inducing cell death and damage. Dr. Munitz and his team have shown that eosinophils are also recruited and activated in breast cancer that has metastasized to the lung, where they have potent anti-tumor activity. The researchers are currently studying a molecule identified as a potential regulator of eosinophil activity, which should eventually lead to new treatments, especially in lung metastasis.
