Alan Herman Named Executive Director of the Israel Cancer Research Fund (ICRF)

NEW YORK, NY — The International Board of Trustees of the Israel Cancer Research Fund (ICRF) is pleased to announce that Alan Herman has been named Executive Director, effective immediately. Herman joined ICRF as New York Executive Director in July 2021 and was promoted to National Director of Advancement in December 2022.

“Alan has demonstrated that he has the tenacity to drive us to new levels of achievement, the passion for our cause, the skills to motivate his team, and the ability to identify, connect with, and cultivate major donors,” said David Abramson, President of ICRF’s International Board of Trustees.

Herman’s recent accomplishments include leading one of ICRF’s most successful fundraising years in our history, attracting new lay leadership to safeguard the future of the organization, and creating effective partnerships with the scientific community. He has also instituted strategic fundraising processes, including enhanced data analysis; these new approaches will help to strengthen relationships with existing donors, as well as build new relationships for ICRF.

“As a cancer survivor I am humbled to be paying forward the gift of research to others and along with an incredible team write the next chapter for ICRF so that Israel remains a world leader in the fight against cancer,” said Herman.

Herman’s past experience and entrepreneurial spirit uniquely position him to bring ICRF to new heights. Before joining the organization, he held senior leadership roles in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Herman served as Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer of a leading national synagogue and community center. Prior to that, he spent three decades in the for-profit world, primarily as Founder and President of a wholesale distribution business serving national retail and Fortune 500 corporations.

Bryna Goldberg, Chair of ICRF’s International Board of Trustees, commented, “We are all incredibly grateful for Alan to be at the helm of the Israel Cancer Research Fund as we approach our 50th anniversary. We look forward to celebrating this milestone with everyone in 2025.”
