Proteins are the workhorses of the cell and are responsible for almost all cellular processes. One protein, UFM1, is closely linked to several types of cancer. The Wiener lab is working to reveal the mechanisms by which UFM1 attaches to its target proteins, with the goal of using this pathway for novel anti-cancer drugs.
