Leaving a bequest, or including ICRF in your estate plans, is one of the simplest and most impactful ways to support our organization.
There are several ways to do this, but remember to consult an attorney for guidance. You can specify a gift to ICRF in your will or revocable trust, or name ICRF as a full, partial, or contingent beneficiary of your retirement account, such as an IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or pension. Additionally, you may choose to designate ICRF as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy.
Your bequest can take different forms. A percentage bequest allows you to leave a portion of your estate to ICRF, while a specific bequest enables you to donate a set dollar amount or particular asset. A residual bequest directs the remaining balance of your estate to ICRF once other obligations are fulfilled.
If you’re 70½ or older, you can transfer up to $105,000 annually (or $210,000 for couples) from your eligible IRA directly to ICRF through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). This tax-wise gift can satisfy your required minimum distribution and reduce your taxable income.
An IRA Charitable Rollover also helps satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) while supporting lifesaving cancer research.
To donate, first contact your IRA administrator to initiate the transfer directly to ICRF and then let us know once it’s complete.
You can support ICRF and secure lifelong income with a charitable gift annuity. Here’s how it works: You make a gift to ICRF, and in return, you receive guaranteed annual payments at a competitive rate based on your age, for life. A portion of your annuity payments might even be tax-free, and you might also qualify for a charitable deduction when you establish the annuity.
You can easily designate ICRF as a beneficiary of your life insurance plan or retirement, investment, or bank accounts. This simple gift costs you nothing now, doesn’t require a lawyer or estate plan, and allows you to update beneficiaries anytime. By naming ICRF as a beneficiary, you can reduce taxes on retirement assets and avoid probate fees while you create lasting support for lifesaving cancer research.
To get started, contact your bank or insurance provider to complete a beneficiary designation form.
