Prof. Shai Izraeli is Tracking Leukemia Cells with a New Genetic Approach

ICRF-funded researcher Professor Shai Izraeli and his team developed DAISY-MRD, a new sequencing method that uses genetic “molecular barcodes” to detect small numbers of leukemia cells remaining after treatment. The approach showed potential to identify children at higher risk of relapse and detected residual leukemia in some cases missed by traditional testing. These findings could lead to more sensitive monitoring of treatment response in children with AML.
The study was published in HemaSphere, the scientific journal of the European Hematology Association (EHA).
