Message from Alan Herman, ICRF Executive Director – November 2026

The past few weeks have been incredibly inspiring as friends and supporters came together for our Connecticut and Chicago galas. Both evenings were a true celebration of hope and what we can accomplish together. Hearing from survivors, researchers, honorees, and Board leaders was a powerful reminder of why our work matters. These events together raised well over $1 million to support impactful cancer research.

It is difficult to put into words just how grateful I am for what this support makes possible. Israel is home to some of the most groundbreaking cancer research in the world, and none of it would be possible without you. Thank you for being such an important part of this mission!

Over the next few weeks, Team ICRF will take on the TCS New York City Marathon and the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend, with runners participating in the full and half marathons and the 10K. Throughout the year, our team will raise more than $100,000 for cancer research through these and other events.

Every runner will be lacing up their shoes in honor or in memory of someone who has faced cancer, or as a survivor themselves. For many, running is also a powerful way to reclaim a sense of control over their bodies after a cancer diagnosis and treatment. I am incredibly grateful for their dedication and the meaning behind every mile.

You don’t have to run a marathon to make a difference! If you’re interested in supporting ICRF through a local race or walk, please reach out to learn how you can get involved.

One of the most meaningful ways to see the impact of your support is through the scientific publications that emerge from the research you make possible. Over the past month, ICRF-funded research has been featured prominently in the news and in peer-reviewed publications. The researchers you support are making important discoveries and helping lead the global fight against cancer. It is exciting to see their work recognized and its potential to make a difference for patients around the world.

As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to wish you and your loved ones a happy holiday. I am deeply thankful for the extraordinary work our researchers are doing in laboratories across Israel and, just as importantly, for all of you who make that work possible.

With gratitude,
