In the News: ICRF Research Reveals How Cancer Cells Resist Chemotherapy

A recent article in The Times of Israel highlights research by Dr. Aeid Igbaria of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, conducted with support from an ICRF Research Career Development Award (RCDA). Igbaria and his team identified two proteins, DNAJB12 and DNAJB14, that help cancer cells survive chemotherapy by protecting them from the cellular processes that would otherwise trigger cell death. Understanding how these proteins work could help researchers develop new strategies to overcome chemotherapy resistance and make treatments more effective.

The research was published in the peer-reviewed journal Redox Biology, advancing scientific understanding of how cancer cells adapt to stress and evade treatment.

ICRF is proud to support innovative Israeli research that deepens our understanding of cancer and helps lay the groundwork for future therapeutic approaches.
